Welcome back!
With support from Flying Maple Martialgym society (http://www.flyingmaple.com), the 2010-2011 starts with a big BANG! We added a new safety mat and this will allow the kids to work and play harder without increasing hours. Check out their website for more news.
Starting the week of September 20th, I will be coaching an adults version of martialgym down at Creekside community center (19+ at 10-11am and 55+ at 11:15-12:15pm on Thursdays). The emphasis will be more on martial arts and a lot less on jumping and tumbling. However, light apparatus like rope, stick and rings will still be used to give variety and make it fun. Please help spread the word!
With your support, I am looking forward to an awesome season!
The 2010 “Set-the-bar” contest span over the summer holidays with the intent to get the kids stronger than they finished the season in June. This will give them a good head-start for the new season.
Set-the bar contest have two portions:
- Consistency in training - have to train more than 30 days over the period from June to end of August to get an award. The training / conditioning are divided into 3 different major body areas: legs, arms and abs. Kids have to track their training throughout this period and with 30 days of practice, it will add up to some huge numbers as well as awesome improvements by the end of the period. Tracking sheets can be downloaded and printed using this link: http://www.martialgym.info/resource/ConsistencyBlankForm2010.pdf.
- Skill Contest - will be an actual skill competition where the high achiever will be awarded. Kids are competing within their own age / age groups in their choice of eligible skills. Kids learn about sportsmanship as well as setting goals through this contest.
Involve the whole family and some serious fun together!
